I’m Maggie Callan and I’m an artist.

From my home in New Orleans, I create abstract mixed-media artwork influenced by early modernism, classical finishes, and mid-century design. I work with acrylic paint, paper, colored pencils, and collaged papers. I frame most of my original pieces with custom shadowboxes or carefully restored vintage frames.

Why do I create?

I believe creative expression is the best way we can each leave our mark on this world. I think of my art as physical validation that my unique perspective, like all of ours, is worth sharing. 

As an introverted Leo who battles depression and anxiety, I find myself returning to art again and again in moments of crisis, confusion, and excitement. Using my hands to create beautiful things helps me process my emotions and feel more connected to the world around me.

My artwork illustrates concepts like hopefulness, grief, and mental unrest. I set a positive intention for each piece, and I try to bring optimism, renewal, and a little bit of nostalgia into my work.
